High school Friday nights are made better with rivalry games. In the KRFO/Kat Kountry listening area this year's prep schedule falls into place to feature at least one great rivalry match-up per week. Many of the games are only a short drive away. Most are on the broadcast schedule as well.

The defending 5A state champion Owatonna Huskies go to Faribault Friday, August 31 to open up their title defense against their most natural rival. While Owatonna has dominated the series lately, over time it's been quite competitive with many memorable contests. (AM 1390)

Week two of the season sees Triton head over to Caledonia September 7 in a battle of traditional powerhouse teams. The Cobras gave the Warriors their toughest battles last season along Caledonia's way to a state title. (Kat Kountry 105FM)

A travel trophy is on the line when Medford hosts Faribault Bethlehem Academy September 14 in the "Battle for the Paddle." (KDHL AM 920)

OHS hosts Rochester John Marshall September 21. The teams have a long regular season and playoff rivalry. Plus OHS coach Jeff Williams graduated from JM. (AM 1390)

Week five of the season offers a pair of options. Goodhue plays at Blooming Prairie September 28. The Wildcats topped the Awesome Blossoms in the 2017 section championship game. Both teams have enjoyed plenty of playoff success. (Kat Kountry 105FM) Another option is WEM at NRHEG.

NRHEG travels to Maple River October 5. The Panthers have suffered some heart-breaking losses to the Eagles in recent years. The teams seem to meet in the playoffs in multiple sports as well. (Kat Kountry 105FM)

Owatonna hosts Northfield October 12. The teams seem like great natural rivals, but only have been regulars on each others schedule recently. The Raiders edged the Huskies in a thriller last season. The highly-anticipated playoff rematch never happened when Century upset Northfield. (KRFO AM1390)

Wrapping up the regular season is Rushford-Peterson at Blooming Prairie on Wednesday October 17. BP topped RP in last year's section tournament, but it's gone the other way in the past as well. (Kat Kountry 105)

Anyone who goes on this Rivalry Road Trip this fall should have a great time.
