The Minnesota Department of Transportation provided an update on the status of road construction projects in the southeastern part of the state.

The report from MNDOT indicates which projects are complete, including resurfacing work on Highways 2, 198 and 299 in Northfield and Faribault. A bridge replacement on Highway 30 east of Hayfield is finished. Several Highway 52 work zones are done. Work on Highway 61 in Red Wing, Highway 63 in Spring Valley and Highway 105 in Austin is also finished.

Work that is nearly complete for 2016 includes some projects that carry over to future years. Work on Highway 14 and Interstate 35 bridge replacements south of Owatonna continue through 2018. Installation of median cable barriers along I-35 south of Owatonna should be complete by mid-October. The project affects southbound traffic. The Straight River rest area south of Owatonna is scheduled to reopen in spring 2017.

Other ongoing work includes Highway 19 in Northfield, Highway 43 in Winona and Highway 57 in Mantorville

The construction season lasts through early November on some projects, although many are scheduled to be completed in October.

Traffic officials encourage motorists to slow down in work zones.
